Angela and Lainy are working with charity 'Look Good, Feel Better' to raise not only funds but awareness of the work the work that they do for women undergoing chemotherapy. At the same time creating an exhibition that also raises awareness of 'Ovarian and Breast Cancer'. We hope that you as an artist will take this opportunity in working with us also. This is your way of expressing how you think or are affected by such an invasive and destructive disease. This is also a chance to reflect on not just the disease but the devastating affects on the family and close friends. There is also the joyous times when the 'all clear' is announced. This is a very topical and sensitive art study which i know you artists are all capable of working with. If you would like to participate in this exhibition we would love to hear from you. We are proposing to have at least 100 women sufferers or a close family member/friend create on a supplied canvas something that reflects the emotions they are going through. The materials for this we are trying to raise funds for through our online donations on our website. We are hoping to take this exhibition to many venues in order to raise as much money and awareness as possible. Please share this information with many artists as possible who you might think would be interested. For more information please contact Lainy Allison and or or Angela Allan ..... Right...now get back to work :-) xx

Topics RaisedThis new venture has given Angela and Lainy the chance to explore the many varied issues surrounding women today. There are so many women that do not have a voice. By the use of art practice, issues have come under scrutiny and have become a platform for discussion. We are seen as educators and students of one another's culture, beliefs and ideas. With art we hope to bring exhibitions and opportunities for all women around the globe without fear of prejudice.
StrengthsWomen have strengths that amaze men. They bear hardships and they carry burdens, but they hold happiness, love and joy.
They smile when they want to scream. They sing when they want to cry. They cry when they are happy and laugh when they are nervous. They fight for what they believe in. They stand up to injustice. They don't take "no" for an answer when they believe there is a better solution. They go without so their family can have. They go to the doctor with a frightened friend. They love unconditionally. They cry when their children excel and cheer when their friends get awards. They are happy when they hear about a birth or a wedding. Their hearts break when a friend dies. They grieve at the loss of a family member, yet they are strong when they think there is no strength left. They know that a hug and a kiss can heal a broken heart. Women come in all shapes, sizes and colors. They'll drive, fly, walk, run or e-mail you to show how much they care about you. The heart of a woman is what makes the world keep turning. They bring joy, hope and love. They have the compassion and ideas. They give moral support to their family and friends. Women have vital things to say and everything to give. HOWEVER, IF THERE IS ONE FLAW IN WOMEN, IT IS THAT THEY FORGET THEIR WORTH.Chat conversation end Traffic of young women... Maggie Laidlaw ... "greed and inhumanity... dont think for a minute it only happens in poverty stricken environments....it's happening on your own doorstep in every city...in every country...It has now over taken drugs as the worlds s biggest illegal money maker - drugs can only be used once then they are done - people can be bought...sold..traded...and exploited many times over. The victims and survivors come from every walk of life."Sixteen year-old Newell's story of abduction, gang rape and torture. |
Strong WomanA strong woman works out every day to keep her body in shape ...
but a woman of strength kneels in prayer to keep her soul in shape... A strong woman isn't afraid of anything ... but a woman of strength shows courage in the midst of her fear... A strong woman won't let anyone get the best of her ... but a woman of strength gives the best of her to everyone... A strong woman makes mistakes and avoids the same in the future... a woman of strength realizes life's mistakes can also be God's blessings and capitalizes on them... A strong woman walks sure footedly ... but a woman of strength knows God will catch her when she falls... A strong woman wears the look of confidence on her face ... but a woman of strength wears grace... A strong woman has faith that she is strong enough for the journey ... but a woman of strength has faith that it is in the journey that she will become strong... "There are as many different truthful experiences of gender as there are people who think they have gender".(Kate Bornstein

Perception
What does advertising really do to our perception of women? The treatment of women has gotten worse over the last 40 years, and much of this is related to the severe objectification of women in the media. Women presented in ads are photoshopped to be made thinner, even when they already look anorexic. Due to photoshop women have no more lines, creases, folds, pores – you name it. All humanity is removed from women’s faces and bodies, which ultimately promotes violence against us. 1 in 4 women in the US is physically abused, and 1 in 5 is sexually abused.
Dehumanization is a powerful tool in that it makes violence okay, since violence against an object is okay. And of course it becomes the woman’s fault for being an object once violence has been committed… Watch this powerful video.

We do have fun too..However, please laugh as much you want but do not try this at home...
'See' by Angela Parisha curled and frightened thing I be
defenceless of the world I see for you don't know of thy deep sorrow just the hollow shell I borrow the smile I wear upon my face is there for you; that's just the case for in my eyes if you look closely are the hidden fears that are ghostly a silent voice it tries in vain to scream release from inside my brain and if is left inside to fester you'll get the weak me instead of jester so though I may be curled and frightened the world will see I'm often brightened by the sun and friends around I'll stand up tall and try to be the support you need and I'll be me you'll see |

We begin to accept where we stand on the 'ladder of life'. We accept that we cannot or shouldn't any longer be seen to look and dress and act the same as we did when we were first stepping on the first rungs... We are no longer in competition with the races and the agendas and the outlooks as those much younger versions of female roles. This amazing lady in the video below is 105 years old, her outlook is so very different, partly due to living her youth through different environments and seeing different horizons in front of her. Her life is real, the grave is not her goal, she continues to invest her breath in every day she is gifted.
